The work began with a graphite underdrawing to map out the intricate architectural details and perspective of the scene.

This foundational layer ensured structural precision before I transitioned into paint, building layers of colour to enhance the overarching sense of stillness I aim to convey in the final piece.

The Chicken Rock Lighthouse stands on a reef visible only for a few hours each day. Damaged by fire in 1960 and later restored, it remains in place. Observed from a fixed vantage point and stylised to convey stillness.
