Private Studies: Archiving Your Legacy

THE PROCESS

We begin by uncovering the essence of the subject; its history, significance, and defining specifics that shape the space, structure, or object.

This stage establishes the direction and focus of the work.

Bespoke Works

I conduct sustained preparatory studies and sketches to establish the governing forms and the composition’s fixed vantage point.

These studies resolve the structure before the final work begins.

2) Preparatory Studies

The final work is executed using museum-grade materials: lightfast pigments (in oils or gouache) on archival  substrates.

These are designed to endure for 100+ years for gouache, and 500+ years for oils.

The finished painting is authenticated with a wax-sealed handwritten Certificate of Authenticity, documenting its private lineage;

accompanied by a technical specification sheet for care and handling.

3) The Rendering
4) Provenance

To protect the integrity of these personal histories, bespoke works are created exclusively for the private collector.

These works are never released for commercial reproduction or public sale; they remain a singular witness for your lineage alone.

Beyond the public Archives of Stillness collection, I accept a limited number of private studies annually.

These are rendered in either archival gouache or Michael Harding artist oils on museum-grade substrates. Each medium is selected to best capture the specific essence and stillness of the subject.

These bespoke works apply a focused vantage point to locations, structures, or personal heirlooms of significance, translating them into a quiet, archival record.
